Covid rolling through school
Like a wildfire. Covid is rolling through the state and the country like a wild fire and it amazes me the people who are still denying it or refusing to get the vaccine. We had a teacher tell us last week that she refuses to get the vaccine since she's had Covid. Sunday she sent out an email that she had tested positive and wouldn't be in this week. It seems so clear and obvious to me and it just amazes me when people don't understand. We've had teachers requesting coverage for weeks now. Our subs are stretched to the max and other teachers are having to cover classes. It's crazy. And so much of it is preventable and avoidable with a little vaccine.
Other than that life goes on at school. Sitting a planning out what I'm going to do is so completely worth it. I did that this weekend and yesterday was smooth sailing. I did add a chemistry quiz at the last minute and I'll probably add a biology quiz on Wednesday, but that's all good. When I have everything planned out it is easy to add things like that in. The last 3 weeks I've been drowning in work because I didn't take the time to plan. So planning it is.
Otherwise I really got nothing. Department head meeting this morning, that's always fun. Tuesdays and Thursdays are repeats of Monday and Wednesdays so they always seem like easier days. I did it yesterday and I know what I need to do, so I'm in cruise control today. That allows me to start planning during my prep which gets me ahead for the weekend.
So I've never, in 13 years, been able to use the plans from the year before. I'm really going to try and do that next year. I'm writing everything down and hoping that next year it will just flow from what I have. I kind of think I'm dreaming a little but I'm going to give it a go.
I'm also thinking of taking a class over the summer. It will be 2 1/2 weeks right here at ASU so super close. It's the thermodynamics class which I really wanted to take and since it looks like I'll be teaching AP chemistry next year, this could really help.
That's it, my tree is done. I'm out.
